What is a Currency Conversion Calculator?

The rate you see on a ticker and the rate you get are rarely the same. Between them sits the FX markup — the margin a bank, card, or transfer service takes for doing the conversion. This tool makes that spread visible: it converts at the mid-market rate you enter, then again at the marked-up rate, and shows the gap as a hard number in the currency you're receiving.

Use it to compare providers on cross-border payments, price a supplier invoice in another currency, or decide whether a “no fee” transfer is really cheaper than one that charges a fee but converts closer to mid-market.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What is the mid-market rate?

The mid-market (or interbank) rate is the midpoint between the buy and sell prices for a currency pair — the 'real' rate you see on a rate ticker or search engine. Providers rarely give you this rate; they add a margin, called an FX markup, on top.

How is the effective rate worked out?

The markup is applied as a haircut on the mid-market rate: effective rate = mid-market × (1 − markup%). So a 2% markup on a 0.90 rate converts your money at 0.882. The markup cost is the difference between what a pure mid-market conversion would give and what you actually receive.

Do you fetch live exchange rates?

No. You enter the mid-market rate yourself from a source you trust, so the result is transparent and reproducible. That also keeps the tool fully client-side — nothing about your amounts leaves your browser.

Is this financial or FX advice?

No. It's an informational estimate to help you compare the true cost of a conversion. Verify rates and fees with your provider before transacting.
